With a billion styles of engagement ring on the market, why would anyone want or need a custom-made engagement ring? Actually, there are a number of reasons for custom making an engagement ring.

First, there may be an enormous number of styles available but that doesn’t mean you can see them all or even find them in stores. Imagine the fatigue that would set in if you actually tried to look at even a fraction of the designs available. I bet after a few hours they would all start to look alike. And think of the amount of time it would take. Think of what you like, come in and talk to us and make it.

Second, you may want to make something that has a detail or change that appeals to you. Maybe you like a floral solitaire with a bezel set oval colored gemstone, or a ring with baguette shaped diamonds on the sides and a square diamond in the middle. These may not be in any store or online. Custom making the idea will give you exactly what you want.

Third, you want something unique that you don’t see on three of your friends’ hands already. Again, this is where personalization comes into play. What if the person receiving the engagement ring says they always wanted rose gold, and nobody carries the design in rose gold? Perfect! Custom make the ring. What if you have a diamond given to you by your grandmother? Set the diamond into a unique ring that might incorporate some of the design in your grandmother’s ring and add some modern elements. Combining the old and the new is a perfect time for a custom-made engagement ring. Basically, you are adding your ideas to make the ring special, shows you cared enough to spend the time on the engagement ring you want to give. Maybe you spend that time looking for a ring in many stores. Nothing wrong with that as it still shows care and thought. But often finding the right engagement ring is a process as much as custom-making an engagement ring.

Forth, custom making an engagement ring gives you complete control of the materials used in the ring. Maybe you like platinum or maybe you want a very specific cut of diamond. All of these are completely within your control when you are custom making an engagement ring. Buying out of the showcase won’t give you nearly that much flexibility.

Fifth, you have better control of your budget. When you select out of the showcase, most of your pricing options are set. Going the custom-made route allows you to tell us what your budget is and stick to it. If you want to reduce the size of the main gemstone, or move to a lower karat of gold, those options are not always available with rings that are in the showcase.

Sixth and lastly, when you custom make an item, this typically means that greater expertise is needed in the fabrication process. In other words, more often you are getting better quality. I have to add here, before I get yelled at, there are many jewellery manufacturers that are in our showcase that produce excellent quality jewellery. That is why our showcases are full of great engagement rings. That may not be the case in many malls or online stores.

I have to admit, I am biased about custom-made engagement rings. I like working with a client to design them, then see them come to life as I make them. And best, is the look on the face of the client and recipient when they receive their unique engagement ring. That is the best!
